What's happening to Hathorway?
Before jumping into "What's happening to Hathorway", let's go back in time for a bit. We'll be back in 2016 before you know it. :)
The birth of mybfcloset
Seven years ago I started a blog with one of my best friend, Agnes Fernandez. For those who don’t remember or don’t know about it; it was called MyBFCloset. MyBFCloset was a DIY blog with "friendly commentary and step-by-step how-to’s on looking through a man’s closet and finding garb that can be altered with a little five second femininity.” Our manifesto was “Raid his closet and create what’s you.”
During it’s time, MyBFCloset accomplished a lot for being a side project. We were featured in a fashion show, we styled a few photoshoots, we created a calendar, and we were featured in a few publications. Of course, it wasn’t just Agnes and I; MyBFCloset couldn’t have happened without the help of our 7 creative closet raiders: Angelie Herreria, Anjelica Mangubat, Cherelle Cruz, Gina Tsai, Jackie Ngo, Mai Tinio and Melissa Tung. Thank you ladies for all your creativity, collaboration and talent!
The death of MyBFCloset
Sadly, the blog no longer exists, but this summarized and celebrated what it was quite well: What's His is Hers.
For those who remember and are curious why we stopped, let’s just say many of us has left our boyfriends at the time and we didn’t want anything to do with them. In fact, we wanted to throw all the memories of our ex’s away. All jokes aside, many of us were just in our early 20’s. We were in a period of transitioning - transitioning from relationships, from colleges and from living situations. We simply got occupied and we stopped blogging. On top of that, I'll take the blame for being a bit bossy on what I wanted for MyBFCloset. Agnes was probably discouraged and the momentum started dying. It's okay; Agnes and I looked back, and she has forgiven me. That's what friends are for. :)
The birth of Hathorway
Though MyBFCloset ended several years ago, it doesn’t mean my love for men’s fashion is dead. It’s an undying love actually. I’ve decided to sprinkle my love for men’s clothing on Hathorway.com. I started Hathorway in March 2016 with my lovely cousin in Vietnam, Trang Pham.
It started as a jewelry line offering exquisite and beautiful handmade jewelry and accessories made from the water buffalo horns in Vietnam. You can read more about our beginnings here.
Well a few months in, things started to get very difficult due to our time differences and market differences so we could not get our roots grounded in. We decided to split before it got more complex; and Trang decided to leave Hathorway with me. No worries, nothing happened between us and we love still love each other dearly.
The rebirth of Hathorway
It's been several months now and Hathorway.com has been untouched. And I've been trying to decide what to do with her. So after all the reminiscing of MyBFCloset, I’ve decided to make Hathorway my personal outlet for everything I love from boyfriend fashion, horn jewelry, traveling, ear candy and all cute things. That’s right — it’s a blog. It might seem like I’m all over the place, but I’m just going to have fun with it. If it turns into something like MyBFCloset, it's even better! All I know is that what ever I do, it's simply to to inspire and empower women. So let’s make that happen.
In the next few weeks, be on the look out for some changes on Hathorway.com. But don't worry, you can still check out the beautiful Hathorway items at HathorwayShop.etsy.com; I will still be selling things there.
I’ll end with this:
“There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under the heavens: a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot"
Keep it up,
Current Ear Candy
